Year 11 Land and Environment trip to Laverstoke Park

by dml on 24th February 2010
Department:
Cross Curricular
Year Group:
Key Stage 4
Venue Region:
South West England
Town:
Overton
Summary:
Excellent on all fronts - great learning and great fun!
Venue: Laverstoke Park
Laverstoke Park have now provided two bespoke days for the Level 1 Land and Environment group. These have covered a variety of aspects of farming and estate management. One visit was designed specifically to address an assignment 'Working Safely in the Land based industries'. Our visits have always been well organised with a mixture of activities.

The group has been made up of 13 boys and one girl, each with a different work placement one day a week. Interests include game keeping, farming, equestrian, estate management and small animals. All have thoroughly enjoyed their visits to Laverstoke Park and are keen to return ... there is always more to see and learn about.

One particular must on a visit to Laverstoke Park is the dairy ... feeding the buffalo calves always brings out the soft side of even the toughest teenagers!
Benefit:
Excellent in providing specific experience for assessment. Students loved it and appreciated the time and help given by staff.
Plus points:
Free bespoke visits
Minus points:
Sorry - cannot think of any!
Overall:
